Description

Taylor & Fillmore: Kellogg & Comstock Jugate "Banner". This 10" x 14" hand-colored lithograph is patterned after the Currier "Grand National Banner" series. Published by Kellogg & Comstock of New York and Hartford, it depicts Taylor and Fillmore, the "Whig Candidates For President and Vice-President." It is colored in burgundy, yellow, blue, green, rose, cyan and emerald. There is some damp staining, mainly around the corners, as well as two small areas of restored border at the very top. From a graphic standpoint, this design is much more interesting than its Currier counterpart. The stains tend to blend in on this example and the colors are vibrant.
