Description

Theodore Roosevelt: Phenomenal Rebus Square Deal Button. Among collectors, Teddy Roosevelt is the most popular 20th century candidate. And, among TR campaign buttons, this one has to be in the top ten. It measures 1 1/4" and has a sepia portrait of Roosevelt in the middle within a square frame. The frame is inscribed with symbols and words that read: "Awl Eye Want is a Square Deal". The gold ink has a metallic or glittery look to it, as made. The condition is outstanding and it retains the Walter Brunt of San Francisco back paper. Until an example appeared on eBay recently, it was unknown in the hobby. This appears to be a second example. This is a reel eye Johnny Bench, or a "real eye catcher!"
