Description

McKinley & Roosevelt: Matched Pair of Equestrian Bandannas from 1900. Two linen handkerchiefs or bandannas, each measuring 19" square. They are titled "The Right Man in the Right Place. Protection, Expansion, Prosperity, Sound Money." One shows McKinley in top hat, astride the G.O.P. charger, holding aloft the Gold Standard Banner. It reads below: "For President Wm. McKinley, 1900". The other is perhaps not quite as florid, but shows Rough Rider Teddy Roosevelt, with raised saber, astride the G.O.P. cavalry mount, furiously charging. It reads below: "For Vice-President Theo. Roosevelt, 1900". We don't recall seeing one of these, least of all the matched pair. Each has stains around the borders, likely the result of mounting on a board.
