Frontispiece portraits after various artists, with printed tissue guards. Bound in full black crushed levant morocco with gilt-tooled decorations, each with metal medallion portrait of Cardinal Richelieu set into front cover.

Spine with five raised bands, gilt-stamped fleurs-de-lys and titles. Gilt inner dentelles with green suede doublures and marbled free endpapers. Top edge gilt with others uncut. Slight shelf wear to volumes, mostly at corners, spines and extremities. Toning to pages edges. Occasional offsetting. Otherwise, an exquisitely bound set.
