Hieronymus Hess [illustrator]. The Dance of Death: Painted by H. Hess from the fresco-paintings on the cemetery wall of St. Johns church at Basle. Bale: Alb. Sattler, [n.d., ca. 1840].First thus. Quarto. Unpaginated.
Contemporary full black cloth. Blind ruled boards with gilt titles on front. All edges stained red. 40 hand-colored lithographic plates with tissue guards. Title and text in English, French, and German. Binding lightly rubbed. Toning throughout. A near fine copy. From the Estate of John McLaughlin.
