Description

One Original Color Painting and Two Original Charcoal Drawings by Garth Williams

Garth Williams (American Artist, 1912-1996). One Original Full-Color Painting and Two Original Charcoal Drawings for JB's Harmonica (published in 1993 by Harcourt, Brace Jovanovich). [N.p., n.d., ca. 1992-1993]. Approximately 12 x 9 inches on stiff paper. The original painting of "JB" has been affixed to the original painted background. Minor occasional thumbsoiling to charcoal drawings, one with an ink notation. Fine. Originally, the characters of this book had been conceived as humans; they later became bears (presumably to broaden the book's appeal to younger children). JB's Harmonica was written by John Sebastian (musician and composer, and founding member of The Lovin' Spoonful) and illustrated by Williams. The creative process for this charming book must have been a relatively harmonious one, as Williams was Sebastian's godfather! From the Estate of Garth Williams.
