Publisher's light brown cloth with dark purplish titles. Original pictorial dust jacket. Minimal edge wear and rubbing to cloth. One tiny bump to one corner. Discoloration to endpapers from binder's glue, as usual. A few tiny chips to the jacket edges. Light fading and rubbing to the jacket. Minor toning to the verso of the jacket panels. One cellophane tape repair to the verso of the spine head. Overall, a very good, tight, square copy. Chandler's third novel to feature private detective Philip Marlowe.
