Description

An Unusually Bright Set

Edgar Allan Poe. The Works of Edgar Allan Poe. Newly Collected and Edited, with a Memoir, Critical Introductions, and Notes, by Edmund Clarence Stedman and George Edward Woodberry. The Illustrations by Albert Edward Sterner. Chicago: Stone & Kimball, 1894-1895.

Ten octavo volumes. Portrait frontispieces, tissue guards, and illustrated plates inserted throughout.

Publisher's full green cloth, spines lettered and decoratively stamped in gilt. Top edges gilt. Spine ends very lightly bumped and rubbed, some rubbing to binding, a few covers lightly bubbled. Each volume with a previous owner's neat gift inscription, and bookplate of Howard de Forest. Despite these minor flaws, this set is remarkably bright and fresh. Near fine.
