Original blue cloth, zebra patterned endpapers. Boards are lightly worn with some faint spotting on the front. Pages and photographs are clean and bright. Very good.More Information:
According to Beebe, " this is a parade of People Who Count". Sixty-two pages of blue -tinted photographs of café society beginning with the first party of Repeal Week (Dec 1933)which was published in Town and Country and reproduced on the first page. There are five or six photographs per page, each captioned with the names and , in most cases, professions of those in the photo.
Jerome Zarbe was, arguably, the first society photographer and the forerunner of today's paparazzi. El Morocco was the place to see and be seen in the 30s. If your photo had a zebra background then it was taken at El Morocco. The zebra patterned walls and banquettes were the signature of El Morocco. The endpapers echo the theme.
