With the Rare "Index Morborum"
William Salmon. Botanologia. The English Herbal: or, History of Plants... London: Printed by I. Dawkes, for H. Rhodes and J. Taylor, 1710. First edition. Large folio in fours. vi, xvi, 1,296, [44, Index Plantarum and Index Latinus], [6, Index Morborum] pages. With engraved title frontispiece by van der Gucht after Eloas Knight, and a voluminous number of text woodcuts. Title page printed in red and black. Text printed in two columns. Contemporary blind-tooled calf boards, rebacked and recornered in modern light brown vinyl with gilt spine titles. Significant wear and abrading to the boards. New endpapers. Uneven toning and foxing throughout. A few corner chips and marginal tears. Gatherings 2N and 5F2 are repeated where 3N and 5E2 are lacking and should be, respectively. A good copy, wanting the two gatherings, but with the excessively rare "Index Morborum." Henrey 1308.Auction Info
