Description
[Pearl Harbor] Photograph of the Battleships USS Tennessee (BB-43) and USS West Virginia (BB-48) on December 7, 1941. The modern print is 7" x 5", in black and white, shows both ships moored together on "Battleship Row" when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The verso has photo archive stamps, pencil notations, and labels, light surface abrasions, and a central vertical fold, else good.More Information:
The West Virginia, in the foreground, was sunk and damaged by fire and bombs and did not return to active service until mid-1944. The USS Tennessee, hit by two bombs and was set afire in several places by burning debris, was given initial repairs at Pearl Harbor Navy Yard and steamed to the United States for further work later in December 1941.
