Description
1922 WORLD SERIES PROGRAM - GAME 5.
Elsewhere in this catalog we offer a 1922 World Series program which was scored for Game 1 of that year's Fall Classic. It was explained in that description that the Giants hosted all the games and, therefore, only one program design was produced. This offering was neatly scored for Game 5 which declared the Giants the ultimate victors. Although Ruth was the talk of Gotham in 1922, he recorded a dismal showing in this series, going 2 for 17. The program is scored into the Yankee ninth inning, when this fan evidently conceded the 5-3 triumph for the Nationals. Its moderately soiled cover has a straight, but moderate crease along the right edge. The spine is tight, but the middle leaves are detached from the staples. Toward the latter pages, there appear cameo portraits of the Yankees, and neatly extracted is that of Waite Hoyt, but in all, this piece is VG.
