Description

Edward Everett Autograph Free Franked Letter Signed with four other free franked covers. One page, 8" x 10", October 25, 1828, Boston. All covers are signed "E. Everett" as a Massachusetts' congressman, addressed to Alpheus Bigelow of Weston, Massachusetts, and are lightly stained. Very good.

More Information:

In this letter, Whig politician Edward Everett writes, "I have been requested, by the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Commonwealth, to forward you a quantity of printed electoral votes, containing the list of electors, recommended to be supported, by the friends of the Administration, at the approaching election on the 3d of Nov."

Edward Everett is best known--or unknown--for delivering a two-hour speech at Gettysburg right before President Lincoln delivered his much shorter - and much more memorable - address on November 19, 1863.
