Description

Joseph Hooker Carte-de-Visite Signed "Joseph Hooker / Maj. Gen'l." 2.5" x 4", albumen CDV with a C. D. Fredericks & Company studio mark on the verso, signed in ink beneath the image.

Joseph Hooker was an able, albeit unpopular Union general during the Civil War. Though he served with some distinction his legacy is tarnished - rightly or wrongly - by accusations of excessive drinking and womanizing. This CDV features a sharp image of the general with some modest spotting, else it is in very good condition.
