U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol by Robert Johnson. .54 caliber smoothbore, 8 1/2-inch barrel with steel band and brass front sight. Standard lock mechanism marked:"US./R. Johnson/Middltn Conn/1844". Brass pan. Varnished walnut stock with crisp "JJC" and "WAT" inspector cartouches. Steel furniture. Swivel ramrod. 41,000 produced [see Flaydermann 6A-030]. Good condition. Steel has been mechanically cleaned, showing scattered light to moderate pitting and surface rust. Wood is very good. Action needs work as cock is lazy on return.
