U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol by Robert Johnson. .54 caliber smoothbore, 8 1/2-inch barrel with steel band and brass front sight. Standard lock mechanism marked:"US./R. Johnson/Middltn Conn/1844". Brass pan. Varnished walnut stock with crisp "JJC" and "WAT" inspector cartouches. Steel furniture. Swivel ramrod. 41,000 produced [see Flaydermann 6A-030]. Good condition. Steel has been mechanically cleaned, showing scattered light to moderate pitting and surface rust. Wood is very good. Action needs work as cock is lazy on return. From the Michael Yeck Collection.
