Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver. Serial no. 248034 (all matching including wedge) .31 percussion caliber, 5-inch octagonal barrel with one-line New York address. Brass bead front sight. Six-shot cylinder with stagecoach holdup scene. Left side of frame marked: COLTS/PATENT. Brass trigger guard and backstrap. Varnished walnut grips. Contained in a fine brown tooled leather flap holster marked for .32 caliber revolvers. Property from the Estate of John R. Eckel, Sr.

Condition: Very good. Traces of blue only in protected areas, the balance a very smooth, thin gray patina. Very muted case colors, now mostly silvered to gray. Patches of moderate pitting to sides of hammer. Loading lever screw a replacement. Two frame screws marred. Mellow patina to brass. Grips: Fine retaining approximately 80-90% original varnish with age wear and scattered scratches. Small sliver chip at top of left grip panel. Action crisp. Holster: Fine. Supple leather. Light scratches and soiling.
