Description
[Harry Warner, Jr.]. Collection of Postcards Addressed to Harry Warner, Jr. A lot of 197 postcards from 1938 to 1970. Harry Warner, Jr. is best remembered for his decades-long involvement in science fiction fandom. He published the fanzines Spaceways and Horizons, and contributed to many others. He worked for decades with the Fantasy Armature Press Association, wrote two books on the history of fandom, and won three Hugo Awards. These postcards, many intimate and chatty, were sent from the most important members of the science fiction fanzine community (many who later went on to successful literary careers), such as Forrest J. Ackerman, Robert Silverberg, Richard Geis, Terry Carr, Tom Reamy, Donald A. Wollheim, L. Sprague de Camp, Erle Melvin Korshak, Art Widner, Jr., Gregory Benford, Damon Knight, et al. The postcards are excellently preserved and provide a unique and personal view into a spirited and impassioned literary subculture. From the Jerry Weist Collection.Auction Info
