Description
William Henry Harrison: A Marvelous 1840 Campaign Sugar Bowl with Multiple Images. It is hard to determine whether most 3-D display items of this era picturing presidents were made as campaign items, or simply to honor the chief executive. However, there is no doubt about the tea service to which this lidded sugar bowl belongs. In addition to four medallion-like portraits, there is an image on each side of the ubiquitous Harrison log cabin & "hard cider" barrel, the principle device of his 1840 campaign. Condition is beautiful: the finish on the lid (usually re-attached or replaced) is original, and the surface is very bright, without any traces of hairlines or crazing. A little utterly insignificant chipping along lips where bowl & lid make contact is noted only for the strictest accuracy; this is an all but un-improvable example. Measures 7.125" x 5" x 6".Auction Info
