Description
James Madison 1810 Officer Commission Document Signed. One page, partly printed on vellum, 14.5" x 17.5", Washington, June 1, 1810. A handsome document with engraved vignettes by I. Draper, appointing William Lavall "A Second Lieutenant in the third Regiment of Infantry" countersigned by W[illiam] Eustis as Secretary of War. Fair condition; minor foxing, weakness and separation at folds with various areas of paper loss, one affecting the "James Madison" signature slightly, still an attractive item for display.
