Description

"Hall's Excelsior Bank" Mechanical Bank made by J. & E. Stevens Co., Cromwell, CT, circa 1869. The cashier rises through the top of the bank when the door knob is pulled. The depositor places his coin on the cashier's desk which, by its weight causes the cashier to disappear back into the bank, taking the coin with him. From the William Esser Collection.
