Description
Matched pair of Grant and Seymour ferrotype badges. These are similar to the McClellan-Pendleton badge offered in this sale, but updated for the candidates of 1868, Grant & Colfax and Seymour & Blair. The Grant is a real beauty. The portraits are clear and bold and the frame retains all its original luster (with just a minor spot of tarnish on the obverse). The Seymour is quite nice, as well. The portrait of Seymour has a handful of tiny black spots, but has an excellent appearance. The Blair portrait is also clear and bright, but has some scattered black spots and two chips in the outer perimeter. The frame has its original gilt finish, now toned to a golden hue. The opportunity to acquire a matched pair like this is rare, indeed.Auction Info
