More Information: Cass, the powerful Michigan Senator, author, and statesman, later originated the Popular Sovereignty Doctrine. Although he lost out in his bid for the Democrats' 1844 nomination, he was successful in 1848 but was beated in the general election by the Mexican War hero Zachary Taylor. This offering does not include the advertising leaves noted by Miles and Decker, who ascribes authorship to Richard Rush. Miles 200. 41 Decker 108.
