Gordon Cooper Signed Mercury Atlas 8 (Faith
7) Launch Vehicle Color Photo, with Added Humorous
Comments. An 8" x 10" silk finish photo on Kodak Professional
paper of the rocket on the pad, pre-launch. Cooper shows his great
sense of humor by drawing a word balloon from the Mercury capsule
with the content: "Z Z Z Z Z". Beneath, he has written:
"Will someone wake me at Launch time?/ Gordon Cooper/ Faith
7". Because of the thirty-four hour length of his mission, the
last of Project Mercury, Cooper was the first American to sleep in
space. He was also the first (though not planned) to sleep on the
launch pad during the countdown as referred to here. Uncommon and
desirable. Excellent.
