Description

Mercury-Redstone 3 (Freedom 7): Eight Vintage Glossy Finish Photos of Shepard's Arrival at Launch Pad, from the Personal Archives of NASA Legend Bill Taub. Ranging in size from 7" x 9" to 10.375" x 8", this is an impressive group of B&W photos depicting the van arriving at the launch pad and Shepard's ingress into the spacecraft. Features an image of Grissom walking alongside Shepard as well as John Glenn and Dr. Bill Douglas waiting for Shepard to arrive for the launch. Great images of what was a very exciting and anxious time. Some light corner bumps, overall fine to very fine.

NOTE: The photos from this archive were the inspiration for the recent book by J. L. Pickering and John Bisney, Photographing America's First Astronauts, Project Mercury Through the Lens of Bill Taub. A beautiful book from the Purdue University Press. Highly recommended. From the Collection of J. L. Pickering
