Description

Braniff International Concorde Large 1/20 Scale Exhibition Model, Ultra Color Livery. An extraordinary and visually commanding large-scale exhibition model of the Aérospatiale/BAE Concorde Supersonic Transport, rendered in Braniff International Airways' iconic "Ultra" solid-color livery from the airline's groundbreaking End of the Plain Plane era. Mounted on a sleek chrome tripod-style floor stand, this monumental display piece represents one of the boldest and most ambitious visions of the late Jet Age.

Measuring over eight feet in length with an approximately 43-inch wingspan, the aircraft is finished in a vivid single-tone "Ultra" fuselage-true to Braniff's celebrated Jellybean palette-contrasted by crisp white wings and lower surfaces. The vertical stabilizer displays Braniff's distinctive white "BI" monogram, while the fuselage carries the period "BRANIFF" wordmark in classic 1970s script. The model faithfully captures Concorde's unmistakable delta-wing configuration and droop-nose profile in clean flight mode (landing gear retracted), emphasizing the sleek, futuristic lines that defined supersonic travel.

While Braniff famously operated Concorde service between Washington Dulles and Dallas/Fort Worth from 1979 to 1980 under interchange agreements with British Airways and Air France, no Concorde was ever permanently repainted into Braniff colors due to daily fleet rotation requirements. Exhibition models such as this were created to visually communicate what a fully Braniff-branded Concorde would have looked like in the airline's vibrant Ultra scheme-making them rare and evocative artifacts of aviation's most glamorous and daring chapter.

Previously exhibited at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, this impressive example remains a dramatic survivor of late 20th-century airline ambition. Minor surface wear consistent with professional display use; overall very fine. Braniff International: The Models and Memorabilia of Braniff Airways “Where Travel Became Art"
