Description
Report on the Massachusetts Ratification Convention Session Published in The United States Chronicle. Providence: Bennett Wheeler, April 3, 1788. Volume V, Number 223. Four pages, 10 1/2 x 17 inches. Unpaginated and printed in three columns. This issue includes a two-page report on the Massachusetts Ratification Convention held on January 22 and 23, 1788, where delegates debated Article I, Section 8 of the proposed Constitution. A speech delivered by delegate William Symmes is printed in full, followed by summaries of arguments presented by other delegates during the sessions.Together with a second issue of The United States Chronicle, Vol. IV, Number 189, dated August 9, 1787. The front page features a "List of Four Dollar Prizes in General West's Lottery."
Condition: Both papers are lightly toned (1787 paper slightly darker) with minor edgewear; remnants of previous binding at left edges; pencil annotations at top left corners of front pages; some light, scattered staining.
