Description

John McLean Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 7 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches, "Post Office Department," [Washington, D.C.]; October 23, 1824. A brief letter to "Hon Mr Burleigh," reading, in full: "I enclose to you copies of the letters from the Hon Mr Holmes and Mr Goodwin, as requested." Signed, "John McLean."

Together with McLean's clipped signature, measuring 4 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches and affixed (with glue) to a larger sheet. Also includes an engraving of McLean, etched by Albert Rosenthal, measuring 7 5/8 x 10 3/4 inches.

Condition: Evenly age-toned with flattened folds. A few light, scattered stains. Very light offset from engraving at center of letter. A single light pencil annotation. Minor edgewear.
