Description
Civil War Period, or Earlier, Wooden "Battle Rattle." Oft used aboard ship and, in some cases, in camp, to, in essence, sound "general quarters." Constructed entirely of oak, perfect condition with nice patina. Turning the handle activates a toothed gear that "clicks" against a flexible piece of wood creating a loud 'alarm'. Nice example of this Civil War military-associated oddity.Auction Info
