Description

Regulation U.S. Issue Mexican War Infantry Waist Belt and Cap Box. A very scarce set and one of only a few we've ever handled. White buff belt excellent with original brass adjusting loop and unmarked 'puppy paw' oval US plate with initials JL carved in the back. Belt supple and overall near perfect, plate with nice untouched patina. The scarce, front closure, M1842 cap box marked with US on the front flap. Overall very good sound condition with just one small tear, with no loss, on the latch tab. Some minor crazing with just a touch of flaking at one side. There is no wool. Clearly indigenous to the belt. A very scarce set of regulation US equipment from the Mexican War period.
