Description

US M1884/89 .45-70 Rifle with Ramrod Bayonet, #531691. Exceptional example. Retains 95% original blue mixing with smooth brown patina. Breech with most of the case colors with some very minor scattered surface rust, easily cleaned. The gun is overall untouched and complete and original in every respect. Excellent markings, mechanically perfect and perfect bore. Wood excellent with very nice inspectors' marks including 1891 date, and large embossed 7 on both sides of the buttstock, with embossed 872 on the right side and paint stenciled I 72 just forward of the butt plate tang. Just a few scattered dents scratches and four small dents along the bayonet channel. Really very nice and especially desirable with these period issue marks.
