Description

Bavarian Militia Cavalry Model 1852 Leather Helmet. This distinctive pattern helmet with characteristics of both the raupenhelm and kurassier style helmet features a tall leather body and visors with silver-washed brass trim. The tall metal comb is complete with the black horsehair plume and detailed Bavarian front plate. The front plate is mounted to the helmet body via two threaded posts. There are no additional holes in the front of the helmet. The flat chin scales are complete and in excellent condition. The chin scales are mounted to lion head lugs on either side of the helmet. A blue and white metal Bavarian cockade is mounted on the left side of the helmet. The leather liner is present but rather worn. The helmet's exterior displays some modest crazing and scuffing but the helmet is generally in excellent condition.
