Stunning American Eaglehead Artillery Officer's Sword C. 1840 by W. H. Horstmann The sword overall retains 95% of the original gilt with just some minor wear on the grip ferrule and near the drag, else absolutely mint. Reeded ivory grip also mint with nice light patina. 28 1/4" white etched blade also about perfect with floral/scroll work and flag panoplies. Just a few minor scattered stains else mint. Scabbard marked on the reverse near the throat "Horstmann" with numeral 423. A beautiful sword and exceptional for both quality and condition.
