Description
Scarce Circa 1790 New York Flintlock Militia Musket Produced Utilizing First Model Brown Bess Parts In untouched original condition, 59 1/2" overall with 43 1/4" .80 caliber round smoothbore barrel, smooth and bright with areas of dark staining and pitting at the touch hole and breech which is marked with an indecipherable proof mark. Lock with goose neck hammer marked "J.P. Moore New York Warranted", spring slips or is broken, smooth and gray. Brass buttplate, trigger guard thimble and center pipe appear to have been salvaged from a First Model Brown Bess, all in excellent condition with minor dents. Heavy walnut stock in fine condition with minor dents and scrapes only. Complete with iron trumpet head ramrod certainly original to the gun. Gun is covered with a coat of old varnish. A very interesting military weapon produced using captured British musket parts.Auction Info
