Description

JUDAEA. Roman era, circa 200-500 CE. Stone mortar and pestle. Similar in basic form to the previous lot, this tripod mortar-pestle is 7.25 inches (18.5 cm) in diameter and rests on three stout legs, the whole about 3.5 inches high (8.5 cm). The linear incised decoration is less elaborate than the previous lot and is characteristic of the later Roman and early Byzantine periods, from circa 100 to 500 CE.
