Description
Signed by eleven moonwalkers
"Moonwalkers": Ron Lewis Signed Limited Edition Print Signed by Eleven, #451/1000, with COA, with a Set of Six Official Fortieth Anniversary Medals. A 31" x 25" print on heavyweight acid-free stock, numbered and signed by the artist at lower right. Lewis's artwork is derived from each astronaut's white space suit NASA portrait and includes a small vignette of the astronaut performing a task on the moon, all against a lunar surface background. The signatures are all bold and large in blue felt-tip, as follows: "Buzz Aldrin", "Alan Bean", "Charles Conrad Jr", "Alan Shepard", "Edgar Mitchell", "Jim Irwin", "Dave Scott", "Charlie Duke", "John Young", "Gene Cernan" and "Jack Schmitt". All signatures were obtained in person at Novaspace between 1986 and 2005. Stored flat. As issued condition.Included with this lot is a Novaspace Certificate of Authenticity signed by Kim Poor stating, in part: "I certify that the signatures of Moonwalkers... are authentic and guaranteed to have been signed in person."
Also included with the lithograph is a set of six Official Apollo Fortieth Anniversary medallions, one for each of the lunar landing mission. These beautiful 1.75" diameter medals are in nickel/ silver with a sandblast finish and were manufactured by Winco as commissioned by NASA. These all contain flown metal as noted on each: "This medallion contains metal flown to the moon on Apollo missions". The obverse of each bears the mission insignia in the center; the reverses use an "Apollo 40 Years" graphic with the text "Exploring the Moon, Discovering Earth/ Celebrate Apollo". Each includes a circular presentation case and a stand. We might suggest that these could either be matted or framed with the signed print or displayed on their stand on a shelf beneath the hung print.
