Lot of Two Swords with Scabbards. Comprising: 1) Japanese Army Officer's Parade Sabre and Scabbard. World War II era. 28 1/2-inch slightly curved nickel-plated blade with half length fuller. Ornate engraved brass guard with integral knuckle-bow and backstrap. Front of guard with pair of identical Japanese characters [possibly Kokura arsenal]. Nicely wire-wrapped horn grip. Bullion sword knot. Contained in unmarked steel scabbard with two suspension mounts. 2) Contemporary Spanish Military Sword and Scabbard. 30 1/2-inch straight, plated blade fullered on both sides. Ricasso with Toledo Spain marking. Three-bar brass guard with integral knucklebow. Checkered hardwood grip panels and lion's head pommel. Contained in plain steel scabbard with single hanger ring. Condition: 1) Very good. Retaining most of the original nickel with scattered spotting and patches of fine pitting. Scabbard fair to good. Metal a mottled brown patina with traces of light surface rust. 2) Fine to excellent. Only minor handling marks observed on otherwise perfect sword. Scabbard very good with handling wear, light spotting and scattered frosting.
