Description

Balloonists Auguste and Jean Piccard: Separate Signatures with Photo for Display. Twin brothers born in Basel, Switzerland, January 28, 1884. Both were pioneers in high-altitude ballooning (as well as in other fields). As follows.
Auguste Piccard (1884-1962): A black ink signature with added location (Grimentz Switzerland) and date (June 15, 1948) on a blue card. Studied the Earth's upper atmosphere in record-breaking helium balloon flights, also invented the first bathyscaphe where he explored the ocean's depths.
Jean Piccard (1884-1963): A black ink signature on a yellow card. He invented clustered high-altitude balloons and the plastic balloon. Many of his inventions are still in use in balloon flight, aircraft, and spacecraft.
Both signatures are mounted on one vintage card with typed bios. A B&W glossy with separate images in included. Fine.
