Edward Burleson receives payment for his service as vice president of the Republic

Treasury Warrant for Payment to Edward Burleson for his service as vice president. 6.25" x 3.6", Washington; April 3, 1844. A warrant issued to Burleson in the amount of $90.00 "for compensation of Vice President." Edward Burleson, a veteran of the Texas Revolution who participated in most of the battles, was the third Vice President and served under Sam Houston from 1841-1844. Endorsed on the verso by Charles Mason stating that Burleson had authorized his attorney to receive the payment. Holographic cancellation vertically across the front. From the Robert E. Condition: Gently toned, with light dampstaining affecting the endorsement on verso. A few patches of adhesive residue on verso, and unevenly trimmed.
