Description

Cased 12 Gauge Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun by Stephen Grant.
Serial no. 7050. 12 gauge. 30-inch Whitworth steel barrels with game rib. Casehardened bar action engraved with very fine foliate scroll with bands. Banded fences. Ejectors. Automatic safety. Disc-set strikers. Older replacement finely checkered straight stock of well-figured walnut. Oval with initials. Silver's style recoil pad. Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release. Oak and leather trunk case with red baize and maker's label and charge card numbered to the gun. Brass latch and corners. Two leather straps.
Data: Barrel dimensions: Bore diameter: 0.729/0.739 inches. Chokes: 0.00/0.018 inches (Cylinder/Modified). Chambers: 3 inches. Minimum wall thickness: 0.013 inches. Proof: London, Nitro, 13/1, 13/1, 1 1/8 ounces. (Note: Gun is out of proof due to enlarged bores and lengthened chambers. The gun is deemed unsafe to fire due to thin left barrel wall). Stock dimensions: Pull: 14 1/4 inches. Drop at comb: 1 1/2 inches. Drop at heel: 2 1/2 inches. Cast-off: 1/4 inches. Weight: 7 pounds 3 ounces. Condition: Very Good, as partially redone, but deemed unsafe to fire. Barrels show 90-95% bluing and a number of very slight dents. Bright bores. Left barrel shows a dent 7 1/2 inch from the breech. Action shows a silver patina. Reblued triggerguard. Right ejector is not functional. Wood shows nicks and scratches. Trunk case in very good condition. Exterior shows numerous marks and scratches and scuffing at edges. Interior in very good condition with some losses to the baize and losses and a break in the oak. Maker's label shows some losses. Missing handle.
