Description

Bruce McCandless II Signed Large STS-41-B Untethered Spacewalk Color Photo with Added Comments, with Photographic Provenance, in Framed Display. A stunning 15.5" x 19.5" photo of McCandless floating in the distance above Earth's blue horizon in an extravehicular activity (EVA) outside the cabin of the Shuttle Challenger during STS-41-B. He used a nitrogen-propelled hand-controlled Manned Maneuvering Unit that he helped develop and was the first astronaut to perform an untethered EVA. He has signed in silver felt tip against the blackness of space: "It may have been 'One small step' for Neil, but it's a heck of a big leaps for me!!/ Bruce McCandless II/ STS 41-B". Included is a snapshot photo of McCandless signing this photo. Nicely framed to an overall 20" x 24". Very fine.
