Description

Scarce Excavated Die-Struck C.S. "Tennessee Egg" Brass Oval Belt Plate. The standard pattern die-struck brass belt plate. Thin brass with embossed CS in serifed letters. Tennessee manufacture, found at Stone's River, Tennessee. Probably lost at that battle, December 31, 1862. One-piece forked wire hooks on reverse. Condition: Fine as excavated. Showing minor dents, age wear and patina. Has not been cleaned but left in original excavated condition.
