Charlie Duke Signed Large Apollo 11 Transposition, Docking, and Extraction (TDE) Maneuver Color Photo with Added Comments. A 20" x 16" glossy photo, NASA image AS11-36-5313, on Fujicolor Professional paper taken on the trans-lunar coast of the LM Eagle prior to extraction from the Saturn S-IVB (third) stage and docking with the CM Columbia. Signed in gold ink: "Stage 3- Eagle and Columbia prepare for docking/ Charlie Duke/ Apollo 11 CapCom". Heritage's first offering of this photo. Excellent.

The Apollo 11 mission's TDE maneuver represents a pivotal and intricately executed sequence in the chronicle of human spaceflight. Following the launch on July 16, 1969, and orbital insertion, the TDE maneuver commenced with the CSM separating from the Saturn V rocket's third stage. This was followed by a delicate transposition maneuver where astronaut Michael Collins rotated the CSM to face the LM, still nestled within the third stage. The docking process required Collins to skillfully pilot the CSM towards the LM for a secure connection, a task demanding utmost precision to ensure the safety and success of the mission. Upon successful docking, the combined spacecraft executed an extraction maneuver, pulling the LM from the rocket stage, setting the stage for humanity's historic first steps on the lunar surface. This sequence not only showcased the astronauts' adeptness and the robustness of the Apollo spacecraft's design but also marked a significant leap in our capabilities for extraterrestrial rendezvous and docking operations, crucial for the future of space exploration.
