Fine Cased Pair of French Percussion Dueling Pistols by Devisme of Paris, Complete with all Accoutrements .50 caliber, 9 ½-inch unmarked plum brown-finished octagonal barrels with dovetailed front sights and open rear sights. Barrels rifled as the French preferred. Scroll-engraved tangs, hammers, locks and steel furniture. Gold-inlaid numerals 1 and 2 on breeches and tangs. Scrolling triggerguards. Handsomely relief-carved scrolls on fore-ends of ebony stocks, fluted grips and pommel caps with spool-type finials. Contained in original Prussian blue velvet-lined French style casing together with the following accoutrements: single-cavity polished steel bullet mold; ebony handled nipple wrench; ebony hammer; beautifully made small leather-covered powder flask with spring-loaded charger; lacquered ebony cap cylinder with threaded lid; ebony cleaning rod and rammer; pewter oiler; wormer; brushes; swabs and case key with burgundy silk tassel. Inner case lid with maker's impressed legend in gold reading: 36 Boulevart des Italiens/Devisme/Arqueousier Brevete/A Paris. The ebony case with shield-shaped center escutcheon, brass inlaid borders, indented thumb lift and flush lock. Condition: Guns: Excellent to mint with slight handling wear present. Accoutrements are all fine to excellent. Case with stable cracks to lid, chips to exterior veneer and light wear overall. Lid slightly sprung. Interior with light wea, minor fading and blemishes.
