Description
Russian Cosmonaut Georgi Shonin, Commander of Soyuz 6, Raketa Wrist Watch With Letter of Authenticity. The letter of authenticity from Shonin's granddaughter indicates she inherited the watch from her father. Georgi Shonin (1935-1997) received the watch when he was scheduled to be the commander on the Soyuz 4 mission but did not participate in that mission, instead he later flew the Soyuz 6 flight in October, 1969. The watch has a replaced leather band, a cracked crystal but still runs with some coaxing, but needs to be serviced to bring it back to its optimal condition. The watch is accompanied by a 5" x 7" color photo of Shonin in uniform and a 1976 Russian Spacelab cover with a postmark dated June 9, 1976.Auction Info
