Description

Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-1) Flown Large American Flag and Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch with Large Crew-Signed Launch Photo, in Framed Display. A large display celebrating the inaugural flight of the Space Shuttle. The display features a 12" x 7.5" American flag along with a 4.5" mission insignia patch, both of which were flown aboard Columbia on April 12-14, 1981. The flag and patch have been matted below a 15.5" x 19.5" (sight size) launch photo that is signed in black felt tip: "John Young" and "Bob Crippen". The photo also features an inscription in what appears to be Crippen's hand. Accompanying the lot is the original COA for the flag and patch as presented to "Chimex-Systems, Inc." The patch has been removed from the certificate and placed on the flag to display. Framed to an overall 22.25" x 33.25" this is a great group of collectible material from the maiden flight of Columbia. Light wear to frame, overall very fine.
