Description

Neil Armstrong Handwritten 1964 Postcard to His Parents from Hawaii Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A 5.5" x 3.5" color postcard picturing the Kalalau Valley postmarked from Hawaii on October 12, 1964, addressed to Mr & Mrs S. K. Armstrong in Wapakoneta. He writes in blue ink: "Dear Folks - I know the address/ is incorrect but don't have the/ new one with me. This island/ is amazing. Its both beautiful/ and uncrowded. We work/ at night and spend all day/ on the beach so there's/ not much time for sleep./ Looking forward to the next/ getogether - Neil". Armstrong was likely working at the worldwide satellite network tracking station in Kauai, an important primary station that would be transmitting verbal command to the orbiting Gemini spacecraft in the near future. A great item from before he was given his first assignment as backup to Gordon Cooper on Gemini 5. Very fine. Sealed in a numbered archival holder, CAG 1000128-012. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
