Description

Apollo 11: Crew-Signed "Type One" Insurance Cover Originally from The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified and Crew-Signed White Spacesuit Color Photo in Framed Display. An outstanding display featuring two desirable sets of signatures from the crew of the first manned lunar landing. Professionally matted and framed at top is a 10" x 8" NASA litho print of the "Prime Crew of Fifth Manned Apollo Mission." All signed on their respective image in fine point black felt tips: "Neil Armstrong", "M Collins", and "Buzz Aldrin". A scarce and a much-needed piece in many collections, a nearly unimprovable example.

Just below is a philatelic cover with the "Apollo 8" 6¢ stamp (Scott #1371) affixed, machine canceled at Houston, Texas, on July 20, 1969, the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon. The color cachet features the text: "NASA Manned Spacecraft Center Stamp Club/ Official Commemorative Cover/ First Manned Lunar Exploration" above a colorful moon scene. It is boldly signed to the right in blue felt tip: "Neil Armstrong", "Michael Collins", and "Buzz Aldrin". A perfect display piece with the crew's signatures. Apollo 11 was the first flight in which insurance covers were utilized. Obtaining one that was kept by the mission Commander is an outstanding opportunity. Sealed in a numbered archival holder, CAG 1000608-004.

Obtaining two sets of matching signatures from this celebrated crew who achieved what was once thought unimaginable is a unique opportunity. Framed to an overall 15.75" x 21". Accompanying the lot is Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark, as well as an Astronaut Archives COA. Excellent.
