Apollo 15 Flown Largest Size American Flag Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Dave Scott with His Informative Signed Letter of Authenticity. A 16.75" x 11.75" silk flag of the United States. This item accompanied Dave Scott, Al Worden, and Jim Irwin to the moon and back on their 1.4 million mile journey in 1971. The LOA, on his personal letterhead reads, in part: "I hereby certify that the United States flag included with this letter was flown around the Moon for 6 days (74 orbits) during Apollo 15, the first extended scientific exploration of the Moon, July 26 - August 7, 1971. This large silk flag measures 16" by 12" and was carried aboard the Command and Service Module, Endeavor... This large United States flag has been in my personal collection since returning to Earth." This is the first flag of this size from Commander Scott's collection Heritage has offered; we recently sold an identical flag from Jim Irwin's collection for $32,500. Storage folds, excellent.
