Ex. Charles Conrad

Apollo 12 Lunar Module Flown Crew Souvenir Patch on Certificate of Authenticity, in Framed Display. A rarely-offered 4" patch by Dallas Cap & Emblem mounted to a Conrad letterhead with the following information:

"This cloth patch is one of two similar designs of the Apollo XII emblem that I have in my personal collection. The above patch was from the first group ever made. It does not have the white outer border between the blue and gold threads. That was added to the additional production runs of the patch. Those runs had minor variations in thread shades, placement of the background stars, and the thickness of the dust trail behind the clipper ship above the moon. One run even had a hidden "12" in the dust trail. The blue and gold colors are symbolic for my all Navy crew.

"Our mission to the moon began on November 14, 1969. Alan Bean and I made the second lunar landing of the Apollo program on November 19. This patch was carried in the lunar module and spent over 31 hours on the lunar surface. The Apollo XII mission lasted just over 10 days, ending with splashdown on November 24, 1969."

There is an authenticity sticker on the verso from SpaceSource. Seldom offered. The certificate is double matted with a lunar surface Conrad photo and framed (no glass) to an overall 17.5" x 11.5". Very fine. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
