Description
Gemini 3 - Gemini 12 Presentation Set of Flown Fliteline Medals (Ten) in Lucite, One of only Twenty-four Produced, Directly from the Collection of Michael Collins, with Letter of Certification. A beautiful and historical presentation of all ten flown Fliteline medals, one from each manned flight of the Gemini program. Collins, of course, was Pilot of Gemini 10. Eight of the medals are round and 25mm in diameter; two are odd-shaped (Gemini 9 and Gemini 11). All are in matched silver coloring with five of them actually minted in sterling silver and hallmarked thusly on the reverse (Geminis 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11). They are all sealed inside a 7" x 3" x 0.75" block of Lucite and then mounted to a wooden base, 8.5" x 3" x 0.75". On this base is an engraved plate reading "MICHAEL COLLINS". Very fine.Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Collins' two daughters on his Gemini X letterhead stating: "We hereby certify that the group of ten (10) Gemini mission Fliteline medallions (Gemini 3 through 12) encased within their rectangular Lucite block, that accompany this certification, is directly from the personal collection of Space artifacts of NASA astronaut Michael Collins. It had been in his possession since receiving it shortly after the time of the missions. Each medallion within the Lucite block was flown aboard its respective mission. [signed] Kate Collins, Ann Collins Starr."
